CT Draft Horse Rescue Launches “Raise the Barn” Fundraising Campaign

EAST HAMPTON – In the spring of 2017, Connecticut Draft Horse Rescue launched a fundraising campaign of $ 245,000 to purchase a permanent property that is urgently needed to meet the needs of the horses in its care.

Thanks to the generosity of their supporters, the CDHR was able to purchase a 20-acre farm, Autumn Ridge, as well as a hay storage building in East Hampton, according to a press release.

A fundraiser, “Raise the Barn”, will be held at Autumn Ridge. A 10,080 square foot barn has been donated and funds are needed to bring it to Autumn Ridge and begin construction. The plans include: 42 stalls modified according to a floor plan to meet the needs of the farm, a medical stall, a veterinary / farrier treatment area, a feeding room, a meeting / classroom room, restrooms and bathrooms.

The Kaman Family Foundation has pledged $ 100,000 when CDHR reaches the challenge amount of $ 100,000 by the end of February 2022. Over $ 30,000 has already been raised.

We could not have done this without the support at Draft State of our volunteers, donors, sponsors, the East Hampton community and all those who have contributed to the success of CDHR, said the founder and Executive Director, Dr Stacey Golub, in a prepared statement.

“It’s so rewarding for us to fundraise knowing that everything goes to horses, and now a new stable for them, something we haven’t had since 2017,” she added. This property and barn will help ensure the care, success, legacy and future of CDHR.

Currently, the CDHR has welcomed all the horses it can safely accommodate; However, others are in need of care and are on a waiting list, the statement said. Donations will help them build a versatile stable and allow them to better accommodate the horses in their care. For more information, visit ctdraftrescue.org/raisethebarn.
