Everything you should do in Destiny 2 before the Forsaken campaign is vaulted

Destiny 2 will undergo its next big transformation when The Witch Queen finally arrives on February 22. There is a problem with this new content, however, as older content is moved to the Destiny Content Vault to make room for new stuff. There is still time to play this content and collect some loot which may soon become difficult to find. Here’s everything you need to do before The witch queen come.

A significant amount of stories are being removed with the next update, and unlike weapons, it’s unlikely to be easily accessible again anytime soon. We strongly suggest that players interested in Destiny’s Big Story start here.

All Abandoned the countryside is leaving soon. This is by far the biggest chunk of Destiny history to go away, and it’s a big toning factor for much of what you’re seeing in the world right now. Destiny 2. The entire Forsaken faction, the Tangled Shore, Spider, and the fate of Cayde-6 are all part of this build. The good news is that this campaign is currently free. Most players should be able to complete this in 6-8 hours, which is well worth the investment of time to play.

Hunting season

A boss level rod fires blue shots at the player.

The hunting season was launched with the Beyond the light expansion. It is also the origin story of Crow, a key figure in the current Destiny 2 Season. Your job is to hunt the Wrathborn, an army of Hive and Fallen under the command of a Hive God. It’s the first domino to fall into which leads to Hive’s next heavy expansion.

Season of the Chosen

A guard smashing his hammer in a treasure chest.

Destiny 2 began with the story of a Cabal invasion of Earth, culminating in a raid to confront Calus, the Cabal Emperor. Season of the Chosen acts as a bridge between this period and the current events of Destiny 2. Caiatl, Cabal Empress of the daughter of Calus, came to earth to forge an alliance against the pervading darkness. She demands loyalty in return for her partnership, which leads to conflict. This introduced the HELM, a new public space and mission center, and the Battlegrounds, a series of three-player battles against the Cabal to assert dominance in this difficult partnership.

Splicer season

Fallen refugees, with infants, greet the player.

The Season of the Splicer continues with the theme of ancient enemies becoming allies, as a splinter group from Fallen friendly to mankind may hold the key to ending a sim of Vex plunging the world into an endless night. This is one of the most interesting stories of Destiny 2, tackling issues like xenophobia head-on. A new six-player matchmaking activity called Override has been introduced, as have the three-person Expunge missions. It also marked the return of the Vault of Glass raid, which (thankfully) will continue to be accessible.

Season of the lost

Mara Sov stands in her apartments, talking to the player.

Season of the Lost is the final season of the Beyond the light expansion. It marks the return of Mara Sov, queen of the awakened ones, and the official introduction of Savathûn, the titular witch queen of the next expansion. This is the official preparation for the next major campaign. It introduced the Shattered Realms missions and the Six-player Offensive: Astral Alignment activity. In many ways, this is the prelude to Destiny’s next major milestone.

The weapons themselves aren’t really arched, and Bungie has largely rolled back their item removal policy. Still, the way some weapons are acquired will go away, and there is no guarantee that they will be readily available anytime soon. Better to play it safe and grab those guns now.

The player aims the Hawkmoon hand cannon sight at an enemy.

Hawkmoon is an exotic hand cannon and has been around since the beginning of the Destiny franchise. Precision shots and final shots reinforce the last round of the magazine, and the superior handling makes this pistol a PVP favorite. Visit Spider on the Tangled Shore and collect the As the Crow Flies quest. This will put you on the path to adding to unlock the Harbinger mission, which rewards Hawkmoon. As an added bonus, you can remake Harbinger to try and gain better secondary perks on the pistol. This is the perfect opportunity to hunt your ideal Hand Cannon.

The tale of the dead man

An eerie blue glow obscures the path ahead.

Dead Man’s Tale is an old-fashioned lever action rifle, perfect if your keeper has a bit of an old western cowboy. This ancient gun has a perk called Cranial Spike. Landing precision hits add stacks that increase damage while decreasing reload speeds. Skillful play turns this easy-to-use and precise rifle into a solid DPS machine. Launch the strike of the arms dealer from the director and clear the first room of enemies. Don’t hack into the computer right away, instead stay to the right and go through the door. You will find additional enemies and a distress signal. Once you’ve picked up the signal, head to Zavala in the tower and he’ll send you on the Omen mission. Dead Man’s Tale is a reward for completing this mission, and just like Harbinger and Hawkmoon, this can be redone to gain different perks on the gun.

lord of wolves

Lord of Wolves explosive shells destroy a fallen rod.

One of the most unique weapons in Destiny 2 is Lord of Wolves. It’s a shotgun, but rather than firing single shots, it fires a flurry of hard-hitting shells. It is effective at a surprisingly long range and works well in PVP or PVE. This weapon is earned by completing bounties for Spider, the resident crime boss of Tangled Shore. It’s a random drop, so your best bet is to visit Spider regularly and keep completing his bounties until the RNG gods are smiling at you.

How to spend your time differently

The Prismatic Recaster allows you to specify what types of items will be removed from engrams and gives you influence over the armor stats you decipher. Unfortunately, he disappears with the rest of HELM. No replacements have been identified, so you should assume for now that your best option for controlling equipment roll will soon be gone. Keep collecting Shadow Engrams and use the Recaster to research your best weapons and accessories.

The wayfinder's compass offering purchasable mods.

Etheric Spiral is the destination material for the Tangled Shore and will soon be phased out. One of the functions of Spider is to exchange materials. Now would be a good time to transform your entire etheric spiral into another material or another glow. Spider regularly changes the materials he will trade, so if he doesn’t take Etheric Spiral one week, be sure to check back the next.

Ranking Wayfinder’s Compass, Splice Server, and War Table in the HELM will give you the opportunity to purchase unique mods. Continue to complete the Triumphs for the seasons associated with these devices to increase your rank and collect these mods while you can. It’s unclear if a way to acquire these mods will be added later, so don’t get them while you can.
