Ted Cruz campaigns with Adam Laxalt as Senate race heats up in Nevada

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas is in southern Nevada campaigning with Republican Senate candidate Adam Laxalt.

The couple hosted an event today at the Sun City Center Ballroom in Henderson.

Laxalt’s Twitter account shows Cruz and Laxalt on camera, with Cruz beginning, “(We’re at) a barnstorming tour stop across the state of Nevada. We’re here in Henderson, Nevada, getting ready to do a big rally. I have to say it’s amazing, Adam. The men and women of Nevada, they are rising to take back Nevada, turn it red, remove Chuck Schumer, take back the Senate. Adam Laxalt is how we’re going to retire Chuck Schumer.

Laxalt intervenes: “Let’s go! Let’s go to Nevada!” He gives a double thumbs up.

Laxalt hopes to win a primary against Sam Brown and then face current U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., in the general election.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is in Nevada next week campaigning with Laxalt. They were roommates in the Navy.

The Laxalt campaign said energy and affordability were the planned topics of the event in Henderson.

Laxalt characterizes his attempt to unseat Masto as an effort to turn the Senate majority into Republican.

Cruz and Laxalt made campaign stops in northern Nevada ahead of Henderson’s rally this afternoon.

During a Thursday stop in Sparks, Laxalt criticized Masto’s stance on coronavirus policies and border security.

Cortez Masto’s campaign defended its record on Friday and accused Laxalt of continuing to deny that Trump lost the 2020 presidential election.
