Voting system needs overhaul – The Citizen


Many political parties appear to have been caught off guard on the date of the next local elections and are unprepared for their election campaigns. The majority had not even drafted a manifesto and some had nothing even on hand when the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, announced the first date of October 27 and then November 1 for the holding of elections. These parties hoped that the election would be postponed until February of next year, in accordance with the earlier wish and request of the South African Election Commission to the Constitutional Court ….
